Maria Meletiou-Mavrotheris

Maria Meletiou-Mavrotheris is a Professor of Mathematics Education at EUC, Director of the ICT-Enhanced Education Laboratory, and coordinator of the MA in Technologies of Learning & Communication and STEAM Education. Engaging extensively in research, she has led and/or participated in a large number of multinational projects funded by the European Union. These projects focus on the educational applications of new and emerging technologies in mathematics, statistics, and STEM/STEAM teaching and learning.

Yianna Danidou

Yianna is an Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity at European University Cyprus (EUC). She has long teaching experience in Cybersecurity and Computer Science related topics, and along with academic teaching, she has been engaged in research, and particularly EU funded research programs through CERIDES, where she is a Research Associate for the last 7 years. Recently, CYBER.EUC cybersecurity competence center has been established and she serves as the director. 

Her main field of interest lies in cybersecurity education; the interaction between law, science and computer technologies specifically cybercrime and cybersecurity; forensics and crime prevention; electronic evidences; trust and reliance liability and ethical issues raising from technology. She has published a number of journal articles in peer-reviewed journals; and she has attended a number of conferences and seminars both as a participant and as a presenter.

Georgia Solomonidou

Dr. Georgia Solomonidou is a Part time lecturer at the University of Nicosia Cyprus (UNIC). She has a Ph.D. in Educational Research Methods (University of Leicester), an M.Sc. in Research Methods in Education (University of Leicester), a BA, in Greek Literacy (Aristotelion University Thessaloniki). She has engaged extensively in research and has a number of publications in scholarly international journals and books. Indicative EU funded programs in which she has participated include DG ECHO, Erasmus+ KA2, KA3 and AMIF project. 

Efi Paparistodemou

Dr. Efi Paparistodemou works at Cyprus Pedagogical Institute as a teacher educator. She holds a PhD in Mathematics Education (Institute of Education-UCL, University of London), an MA in Mathematics Education (Institute of Education-UCL, University of London), a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics (University of Cyprus) and a BA in Education (University of Cyprus).  She has worked in different positions concerning mathematics education: as a teacher, as a special math educator trainer, as a writer of the new pupils’ mathematics textbooks and as an Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education. She has been involved in European and other projects concerning Mathematics, Statistics Education, Technology, Professional Learning and Teacher Academies. She publishes in international scholarly journals and proceedings and edited volumes in relation to mathematics and statistics education, technology education, prospective teachers and teacher development in mathematics.

Ana Serradó Bayés

Ana Serradó Bayés is bachelor in Mathematics by the University Autonoma of Barcelona and holds a PhD on Philosophy and Sciences Education from the University of Cadiz, Spain. She is currently a teacher of mathematics at Colegio La Salle-Buen Consejo and internship tutor for bachelor’s and master’s degree students, where she acts as contact person for the ERASMUS+ project. Researcher in the field of Statistics Education and professional development of teachers. She is vice president of the Education Commission of the Royal Spanish Society of Mathematics and member of the Education Committee of the European Mathematical Society.

She has been contact person of many ERASMUS+ projects: MESI (Modern Education for Industry 4.0, 2018-1-CZ01-KA229-048103) labeled as good practices, LECLIC (Living in the Era of Climate Change, 2020-1-ESO1-KA229-082206), FemSTEAM Mysteries: A Role-Model Game-Based Approach to Gender Equality in STEAM (020-1-CY01-KA201-066058) which received the 2023 European Innovative Teacher Award.

Maria Lucia Vargas

Maria Lucia Vargas is bachelor in Primary Education by the University of Cadiz. She holds a mention in French Second Language by the University Camilo José Cela and postgraduate mentions in English Second Language by the University of la Rioja and a mention in Phisical Education by the University of Cadiz. She is currently teacher of French and Social and Natural Sciences in Primary Education at Colegio La Salle-Buen Consejo.

She is contact person for Data Science for Civic Engagement and Social Justice form the Early Years.

Manuel Pavón Iglesias

Manuel Pavón Iglesias holds a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciencies and a Master
Degree in Integrated Water Management from the University of Cadiz, Spain. He is currently a teacher of bilingual Biology and Geology and Mathematics subjects at
Colegio La Salle-Buen Consejo and internship tutor for bachelor’s and master’s degree
students. He is also a member of the managing staff of the school in charge of the official documentation of teachers and students.

He has actively participated in many ERASMUS+ projects in the field of STEAM education, presenting in International Conferences papers on the innovation of the STEAM curriculum within a design based research approach.

Jesús Rodríguez Suárez

Jesús Rodríguez Suárez holds a bachelor in Primary Education by the University of Cadiz. He holds a mention in Physical Education by the University of Cadiz, Spain. He is currently a bilingual teacher of Sciences and Social Science Education at Elementary and Middle Level at Colegio La Salle-Buen Consejo. He is the coordinator of communications at the school and he is in charge of the dissemination of all the ERASMUS+ actions within the school community.

Aisling Leavy

Aisling Leavy is Professor of STEM Education and Head of the STEM Education Department at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick. Her research interests include statistics education, the development of statistical reasoning, the mathematics preparation of pre-service teachers, and use of teaching and research methodologies (such as Lesson Study) to support the development of conceptual understanding of mathematics in primary classrooms.

Daniel Frischemeier

Daniel Frischemeier (born in 1984) has been immersed in mathematics and statistics education since 2009. He earned his Ph.D. in mathematics education from the University of Paderborn in 2016 and currently serves as professor for mathematics education at the University of Münster since 2021. His research primarily focuses on fostering statistical thinking with digital resources across different age groups, leveraging qualitative methods to understand cognitive processes of learners. Daniel actively contributes to professional associations like the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE), serving on committees and editorial boards. Additionally, he leads various topic working groups for conferences like CERME, ICME of ICOTS and has a track record of successfully managing projects funded by Erasmus+ and BMBF, including DataSETUP and PINGU, aimed at enhancing early statistical and computational thinking in mathematics education at the primary level.

Lisa Birk

Lisa Birk (born in 1995) is a phD student and research assistant at the University of Münster. In 2021, she finished her studies in primary school education for the subjects German, English and Mathematics. Since then, her work has focused on the role of contextual knowledge in early statistical thinking and its relation to the development of early critical thinking.

Dionysia Bakogianni

Dr. Dionysia Bakogianni is NKUA’s Instructor and Research Fellow since 2019. She received her first degree in Mathematics from the NKUA, she has a Master degree in Financial Mathematics, and she has a PhD in Mathematics Education from the NTUA (2019). Her research interests are in the areas of secondary mathematics teachers’ professional development and particularly in teachers’ practices and teachers’ use of teaching resources with a special interest in teaching and learning of Statistics. 

Chrissavgi Triantafillou

Chrissavgi Triantafillou has studied Mathematics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. Her master’s degree was in Mathematics at the York University in Toronto, Canada and she had received her PhD in Mathematics Education in 2010 from the Department of Primary Education at the University of Partas, Greece. Since 2017 she is Assistant professor in Mathematics Department of NKUA. Some of her current research interests are on inclusion, differentiation, assessment and on teaching environmental l issues). She was involved in teacher education activities in the context of six European funded projects: Mascil, IncluSMe, Formas, Educate, ENSITE and ICSE Academy.

Despina Potari

Despina Potari has got her first degree in Mathematics from the National and Kapodostrian University of Athens, Greece in 1982 and her PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Edinburgh in 1987. She worked at the Education Department of the University of Patras from 1989 to 2008 and since 2008 she has been working at the Mathematics Department of the National and Kapodostrian University of Athens. She  has been a visiting professor at several universities in Europe and in the US. Her research interest is on the development of mathematics teaching and learning and teacher development. She has been a chief editor of the Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education (2017-2023), member of editorial boards and teams and reviewer for international journals and conferences. She has also been involved in EU projects focusing on STEM teacher education

Leoni Hadjithoma 

Leoni Hadjithoma holds a Bachelor in Piano Performance (State Academy Pantcho Vladigueroff, Bulgaria), Masters in Piano Performance ( State Academy of Music Pantcho Vladigueroff , Bulgaria) and Music Education (European University, Cyprus), a PGCE (University of Buchingham, London), and is a PhD candidate in Music Education (European University, Cyprus), will oversee project implementation as the school’s Erasmus+ coordinator and PSHCE coordinator. She has extensive experience managing Erasmus+ projects including Erasmus+ Accreditation program and KA2 projects.

Michalis Gavrielides

Michalis Gavrielides, a Mathematics and Statistics Teacher with a Bachelor in Statistics (Athens University of Economics and Business) and Masters in Statistics (University of Manchester), an IPGCE(University of Buckingham, UK), and currently a PhD candidate (European University, Cyprus). His research interests are centered on data science and its potential implementation in educational settings in schools while exploring how data science can be integrated into the curriculum to enhance learning outcomes and improve teaching methodologies. He is keen on investigating methods and procedures that can facilitate the effective adoption of data science in schools, ensuring that both educators and students can benefit from its transformative potential.
