As an Early Childhood Education teacher, I see the potential to integrate STEAM elements and the use of data even with very young children. Although complex concepts need to be simplified, activities such as observing the weather and recording basic data (drawing the sun, clouds, or sky colors) can help children begin to understand their environment in a practical way.
The combination of sensors and art, as explored in the case study, inspires me to think of creative ways to spark curiosity in my students. For example, we could use simple thermometers to measure the classroom temperature and then represent this data with drawings or colors. This not only develops basic skills but also introduces critical thinking at an early age.
The biggest challenge is adapting this approach to their abilities, but with visual materials and playful activities, I believe it can be achieved. I would also like to explore how to connect these activities to broader topics, such as caring for nature, so that children begin to develop social awarenes.
