On 8th July, 2024, members of Team Münster attended ICME14 in Sydney, Australia, where they took part in an unexpected yet valuable discussion group on Teaching Data Science and professional development.

Originally planned as a workshop, the session took an interesting turn when the presenter did not show up. Instead of letting the moment go to waste, attendees transformed the session into a dynamic discussion group, seizing the opportunity to exchange ideas, challenges, and best practices in Data Science education.

The session fostered meaningful connections with other researchers and initiatives, including the ESTEEM project, opening doors for future collaborations. This spontaneous discussion highlighted the growing global interest in Data Science education and reinforced the importance of professional development opportunities for teachers in this field.
