The DataScEd4CiEn Online Learning Platform is the central hub of the project, bringing together all of its educational resources in one accessible and user-friendly environment. Designed for teachers, teacher educators, researchers and schools, the platform provides free access to the project’s Professional Development Course, STEAM learning scenarios, classroom resources, research outputs and practical teaching toolkits.
Rather than acting as a simple repository of documents, the platform guides educators through a complete learning journey—from understanding the DataScEd4CiEn framework to implementing classroom activities that combine Data Science, STEAM education, civic engagement and social justice. Every resource has been carefully organised to support teachers in developing innovative, data-driven learning experiences for students aged 9–15
Designed Around Teachers’ Needs
The platform was developed using a user-centred approach that placed teachers at the heart of every design decision. During the initial stages of the project, educators from across Europe contributed to identifying the educational, technical and accessibility requirements needed for an effective online learning environment.
This collaborative process informed the design of a multilingual platform that provides intuitive navigation, downloadable resources, integrated toolkits, interactive learning materials and practical classroom guidance. The result is a flexible platform that supports both self-paced professional learning and classroom implementation while remaining accessible to teachers with different levels of digital experience.

From design to public use
The development of the platform followed an iterative design process throughout the project. After the initial design and prototyping stage, the first educational materials were uploaded and progressively expanded as new project outputs became available.
The platform then underwent several rounds of testing involving project partners, teacher educators and practising teachers from participating countries. Their feedback helped improve navigation, accessibility, organisation of resources and the overall learning experience before the platform was released to the wider educational community.
Today, the platform serves as the central access point for all DataScEd4CiEn outputs, ensuring that teachers across Europe and beyond can continue benefiting from the project’s resources long after the project has ended.

Quality assurance
Quality assurance was embedded throughout the development of the platform. Both Alpha and Beta versions were evaluated by project partners, teacher educators and teachers participating in the Professional Development Course under authentic classroom conditions.
Feedback focused on usability, navigation, clarity of instructions, accessibility of educational materials and overall user experience. The evaluation demonstrated a high level of satisfaction among users, with most participants reporting that the platform was easy to navigate, supported exploration of educational materials and helped them locate the resources needed to develop their own STEAM learning scenarios. User feedback directly informed the improvements implemented before the public release of the platform.
Looking Ahead
The DataScEd4CiEn Online Learning Platform has been designed as a sustainable educational resource that will continue to support teachers beyond the lifetime of the project. European University Cyprus has committed to maintaining the platform for at least three years after project completion, ensuring continued access to all professional development modules, integrated toolkits, classroom resources and multilingual educational materials.
Regular maintenance includes software and security updates, monitoring platform performance, reviewing educational resources, updating links where necessary and ensuring that the platform remains fully functional for educators worldwide.
