The integration of technologies and visual arts into STEAM projects in early childhood education allows children to actively engage with data in a concrete and creative way. This approach fosters critical thinking by analyzing patterns and creative thinking by using art to interpret data, connecting learning with real-world problems. Thanks to this, they can better understand complex concepts and develop skills to tackle real-world challenges.
To implement a similar project, it would be necessary to consider supports such as training in the use of sensors, access to artistic and technological resources, and strategies to simplify complex concepts for them. One challenge could be maintaining a balance between play and the structure needed to achieve educational goals.
Students can be encouraged to connect environmental data with social justice issues by using concrete examples, such as measuring water consumption and understanding how it affects others. Through guided questions and discussions, they can reflect on the impact of their actions on broader issues, such as climate change or equity in resource use.
