This module has really changed how I think about STEAM. As a Philologist specialized in Special Education, I used to think Data Science was only about difficult numbers. Now, I see it as a great tool for civic engagement.
I learned that when students use sensors to collect their own data, they gain a “voice” to talk about real-world problems like pollution. What I found most interesting is how Visual Arts can help all children—especially those with learning difficulties—understand complex information more easily. My biggest challenge will be the “Prototype” stage, as I need more practice with the technical part of building materials. However, I am excited to help my students use data to become active citizens and fight for social justice.
