May 23–25, 2025 | Volos, Greece
We are proud to share that Dr. Georgia Solomonidou (European University Cyprus) represented our project at the 6th Conference on the Sociology of Education, held in Volos, Greece. The conference, titled “Education as a Common Good in a Vicious World: Democracy, Activism, and Society,” was co-organized by the University of Thessaly and the University of Ioannina and took place from May 23 to 25, 2025.
This prestigious biennial event gathered approximately 150 participants—primarily educators, researchers, and academics from Greece and Cyprus—and served as a vibrant forum for discussing contemporary sociological concepts and cutting-edge research in education. The proceedings were conducted in Greek, emphasizing regional academic collaboration and discourse.
Dr. Solomonidou’s presentation, entitled:
“Social Participation and Social Justice from an Early Age through Data Science and STEAM”
…explored the role of Data Science and STEAM education as tools for promoting civic engagement and nurturing democratic practices from a young age. Her talk emphasized how integrating these disciplines in early education can empower students to become active participants in society and advocates for social justice.
This contribution aligns with the broader goals of our project in fostering inclusive, democratic, and future-oriented educational practices across Europe.
We congratulate Dr. Solomonidou on her impactful presentation and thank her for advancing the dialogue on equity, participation, and innovation in education.
