DataScEd4CiEn National Multiplier Event Held at the Integrated STEM Conference in Ireland

The National Multiplier Event of the DataScEd4CiEn Erasmus+ project was successfully held as part of the Integrated STEM Conference at Mary Immaculate College, Ireland, on 22–23 May 2026. The event brought together pre-service teachers, practising teachers, and teacher educators with an interest in primary mathematics and integrated STEM education.

During the event, participants explored how Data Science can be integrated within a STEAM framework to support meaningful and socially relevant learning experiences. Particular attention was given to engaging learners with social justice issues and demonstrating how Data Science can be used to investigate authentic questions and real-world challenges that matter to young people.

Drawing on learning scenarios developed within the DataScEd4CiEn project, participants examined how publicly available datasets can be embedded in rich classroom activities and analysed using CODAP (Common Online Data Analysis Platform). Through these examples, they explored how learners can identify patterns, interpret evidence, and make informed decisions based on data.

The event highlighted the potential of Data Science to foster inquiry, critical thinking, and civic engagement, while positioning mathematics as a powerful tool for understanding and addressing contemporary social and environmental challenges.

We would like to thank all participants for their engagement and valuable contributions to the discussions throughout the event.
